Job outcomes include support worker, residential support worker, Aboriginal intake and referral worker, community care worker and weekend recreation activities officer, PLUS provides pathways to further studies including community services, aged care, disability support, mental health, drug education, nursing and youth work.

Embarking on this qualification is an exciting milestone for our students. It not only lays the foundation for a rewarding career in early childhood education, but also equips students with essential skills and knowledge to nurture young minds. Studies commenced mid October where students obtained their First Aid, vital for anyone working in early childhood settings. Students gained essential skills to respond to emergencies, administer CPR and provide basic first aid. This knowledge not only boosts a student's confidence, but also ensures they can create a safe environment for children.

Students have reported that the First Aid training was one they enjoyed very much. Many found the interactive nature of the training engaging, with practical scenarios that helped reinforce their learning. The trainer uses role-playing exercises to simulate emergency situations, allowing students to practice their skills in a supportive environment.

"I loved the hands-on approach of the First Aid training," one student shared. "It felt empowering to know that I could potentially save a child's life in an emergency."

Additionally, students appreciated the relevance of First Aid training to their future careers. Understanding how to manage health and safety concerns is crucial in early childhood education, where young children are naturally curious and prone to accidents. Having this knowledge not only enhances their qualifications but also builds trust with parents and caregivers.

This qualification is designed for those aspiring to work with children from birth to five years covering a broad range of topics, including child development, health and safety, and effective communication with families. Port Pirie ACE Program Empowers Local Learners with Retail Skills for Real-World Success

SkillUp SA, in partnership with HITsa Training & Employment, is thrilled to share the success story of the recent Adult Community Education (ACE) program in Port Pirie. This dynamic 12-week program integrated foundational literacy, language, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills with accredited SSDIS01014 Basic Skills for Retail training; preparing participants for rewarding pathways into further education and also the workforce.

With the invaluable support from HITsa, SkillUp SA crafted a program that enabled participants to gain hands-on retail skills and build the confidence needed for career growth. This practical, community-focused approach not only served to enhance employability but also laid the groundwork for participants to pursue further qualifications, such as SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail.

This successful collaboration underscores how well-designed training programs can meet South Australia's diverse learning needs, with dedicated providers like HITsa and SkillUp SA working to equip individuals for meaningful employment. The Port Pirie program stands as a testament to the power of community-focused training solutions that produce real-world outcomes across regional South Australia.
