HITsa Partners with Jobs Statewide

to Empower Job Seekers with Retail Training

HITsa is ecstatic to announce it's partnership with Jobs Statewide to deliver the SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail, aimed at providing clients with valuable skills training for employment. The training commenced on June 11th at three Jobs Statewide sites: Oaklands, Elizabeth, and Woodville. The next intake is set to begin early August.

Training commenced on 11.06.2024 with students graduating on 26.07.2024, during which students gain a full qualification. To keep the learning process engaging, the curriculum includes a blend of written exercises with fun, practical activities, making the learning process both enjoyable and effective.

"Produce Visual Merchandise Displays" was a clear favourite amongst the students. Taking opportunities as they presented, the Oaklands group left the classroom to visit Westfield to take in the retail environment surrounding them, learning what makes a great visual display.

And over at Elizabeth students posed with their "Christmas in July" Visual Display - great effort all!

To support student engagement and attendance, Jobs Statewide generously provides lunch daily. This initiative allowed students to bond and form new friendships. As the program progressed, students became more comfortable with each other and by the end, feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many students exchanging personal information to stay in touch.

A crucial aspect of the training was not only to equip students with the skills required for retail positions but also to enhance their social skills, celebrate participation and attendance, and instil a sense of responsibility and routine. These elements are essential for their future endeavours.

To celebrate their achievements, a graduation ceremony was held. For many students, it was the first time they had completed a program from start to finish and achieved a tangible outcome. Celebrating these milestones is vital as it encourages them to pursue new opportunities and builds confidence in their abilities.

HITsa and Jobs Statewide are proud of the success of this program and look forward to continuing to empower individuals with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the retail industry and beyond. We look forward to seeing our students succeed and make meaningful contributions to the workforce.

Delicious Desserts on Show in the Kitchen

Lots more delicious creations coming out of the kitchen this past month - the star attraction being one of our favourite units, Produce Desserts.

TBH, by the end of the block Chef was sugared out and in need of a detox!

These fantastic desserts were all created by and hand decorated using a classic flan base and toppings based on personal preference of the students.

And if you are a lover of a more old fashioned winter warmers then check out the apple pie (pictured bottom) - looks too good to eat!

Prepare and Serve Cocktails

SITHFAB030

Hospo students made some impressive cocktails in July at their recent Prepare and Serve Cocktails training.

Below Ashlee makes a strong Espresso Martini - just what is needed to keep the Monday buzz going.

Cocktails with a smile: check out these fantastic looking drinks made by Ela and Skye! (they tasted pretty good too...)

Don’t know what to do with a Boston shaker and the difference between muddle, float, layer and build?? Then our cocktail course is a must.

Tell us a bit about you

Growing up as a young horse rider in the Murray lands, I learned the value of perseverance. My horse instilled in me lessons about respect, hard work, and joy. Through this experience, I developed a strong sense of responsibility, commitment, critical thinking and effective communication. These lessons taught me that perseverance is essential for success in life. This foundation served me well as I made several moves across Australia—from Adelaide to Melbourne, Toowoomba, and Canberra, and then, after 25 years, back to Adelaide with our three children in tow. Now grown, my three children have added both immense joy and significant challenges to my life, a bit like my horses really 😊. While two of them live interstate and overseas, I’m very glad that one lives just 2 minutes away from home.
