A journey of determination and support for HITsa Student Angella
HITsa is thrilled to share the inspiring story of Angella, a remarkable individual who has completed a CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support including work placement, setting a shining example for others living with disabilities.
Angella knew she wanted to support like-minded individuals living with disabilities. Despite the challenges posed by an intellectual disability, her determination made her unstoppable. With the support of dedicated trainers, support staff and an inclusive training environment, Angella embarked on the path to achieving a CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support – Disability.
Upon completion of the theory components Angella was assigned a work placement with “Focus Disability Supports”. Here, Angella had the opportunity to put what she had learnt into practice. The work placement was not just a test of Angella’s newly acquired skills but also an opportunity to break down barriers about the capabilities of individuals living with disabilities.
Angella attends Day Options herself, so deciphering the difference between being a participant and learning the role of a support worker, at first, was slightly overwhelming. As Angella’s work placement progressed, Team Leader Pet and the other wonderful staff began to see what a reliable, empathetic, and hardworking team member Angella was becoming. The participants, too, resonated with Angella’s genuine caring nature and ability to learn the role of a support worker.
HITsa would like to thank FOCUS Disability Supports, Learning Support Coordination, Enabling Independence and SYC. Angella will be employed by Enabling Independence where she can now embark on her new career as a Support Worker.
